In the VR ghost story Destiny [Skæbnen], Sofie Gråbøl plays a mother in grief. After losing her son in a war in Europe, one night, she must ask herself if he has returned to haunt her.

Produced by Exit Stage, Destiny [Skæbnen] combines text theatre and new composition music in an immersive Virtual Reality experience. Through a VR headset, each individual audience member follows the mother walking around her empty house, remembering her son and his decision to go to war. While asking both God and Satan to bring him back from death, the mother recounts his story. Splintered by grief, her account demonstrates her son's wish to sacrifice himself for the European values that she as a classical musician performs every night.

Originally performed live with Copenhagen Phil, Destiny [Skæbnen] is a meditation on the cultural history and the current predicament of Europe.
