"Sacre: Det første offer"

The third and last iteration of our collaboration with Copenhagen Phil adapts Stravinskij's Le Sacre du Printemps to a new retelling of Abraham's journey to the mountain. Testing his faith, God asks Abraham to sacrifice his son – Isaac in the Bible, Ismail in the Quran – but is stopped by an angel and blessed by God. In this actualization, the two brothers tell each their stories, only to discover that they have been told the same. Moreover, they have been appointed the same future as fathers of their peoples and of their faiths.

The award-winning graphic novelist and visual artist Halfdan Pisket draws new images of the myth for this spectacular merging of Stravinskij's classical masterpiece, Steingrímur Rohloff's new music, and Enter Ghost's theatrical and visual expansion of the classical concert format with Vertigo and Copenhagen Phil.

Sacre: Det første offer is playing at Konservatoriets Koncertsal on October 22 and 23 at 19:30. Find tickets here.

Melodrama #3 is supported by Den A. P. Møllerske Støttefond.
