"From the New World"
1 / 3
(stage)
In a theatrical reimagining of the classical concert form, director Christian Lollike, composer Matias Vestergård, and video scenographer Astrid Steiner stages Dvorák’s Symphony No. 9 in a radically new way with Copenhagen Phil.
Introducing new text, music, visuals, and live performance with rapper Al Agami, soprano Juliana Zara, and actor Simon Matthew between the original symphony’s movements, Enter Ghost’s version of From the New World asked audiences to revisit Dvorák’s question of what the sound of the new world would sound like today; not in 19th century America, but in our age of interconnected crises, climate disaster, and barren imaginaries in a hybrid form between classical concert, theatre performance, and video projection.
From the New World is the first iteration of Copenhagen Phil’s series reimagining of the classical concert form, Melodrama.
